TIMELINE
SUMMARY
The Polis of Areté used to be centered around the worshiping of Plenitude, and has always been known to other nations for having a large and well-invested academia with prodigious students and advanced research.
However, in addition to this, the island that the Polis is set on is largely unexplored and so holds great potential for farming resources. Another larger and war-focused nation once took interest in this potential (8 years ago pre-time skip, 14 years post-time skip) and tried to invade and conquer Areté, who was entirely unprepared with little to no existence of the three military paths (War, Order, and Conservation). Other nations who were on friendly terms with Areté allied with the Polis and lent their experienced soldiers, some of whom would later be accepted as citizens to Areté and helped strengthen said military paths.

The nation lost immense amounts of resources during the war, which lasted around a year and happened solely over the seas. The end was reached when a warrior named Polites led a group of experienced soldiers into a high-risk strategy, commanded by the warrior who was lent to Areté as its war commander- Veritas. The group knowingly ran into its death, but their sacrifice saw the opposing nation defeated.

The sudden war pushed for big cultural changes inside the Polis, such as the investment in ship technology and city defense as well as the major change of the society’s worshiping, which now became centered around Order; this was a strategic decision made by the path leaders, who understood the need for change but were hesitant to choose a more extreme path (such as War) which would be too big a gap to the society’s culture. The change from Plenitude to Order was one the citizens could come to accept easily, and so Plenitude remains as the biggest path of devotion with the official leading path being the Order.

Since the war, the Polis has seen almost complete peace with growing cities and prosperous overseas business.
